• Jackson, Richard Allen, Jr.

    September 9, 2019
  • Richard Allen Jackson, Jr. was born on August 14, 1963, in Ann Arbor, MI. He was the son of Richard Allen Jackson, Sr. and Shirley Beckley.

Richard was called home to his final resting place on Sunday, September 1, 2019. He was known by many as “Richie Rich” and to his beloved family as “Richie.” He attended Ann Arbor Public Schools, Tappan Jr. High and Pioneer High School. Rich enjoyed making his family and friends laugh while hosting barbecues and social outings; and he was always, always, the life of the party!

Richie was an avid chess player, loved music, and was quite the artist. He once drew a wall mural for a senior citizen building in Okemos, Michigan. Some of his other well known attributes were his protective nature, his love for family, and his insight on life. Richie was always very helpful and encouraging, giving wisdom, life experience, and a piece of advice whether you wanted to hear it or not. He always had love to give, even when he was running on empty.

Rich Jr. leaves behind his mother, Shirley Beckley, his father, Richard Allen Jackson, Sr. (Dorothy); three sons: Arrelle Nason, Raphael Downes (Chantal), and Teon Roberts; five grandchildren: Arielle “ladybug”, Leilani, RJ, Naomi Grace, and Roosevelt; three sisters: Shereen Jackson, Kim Gulley (Jeff), and Helki Jackson; three nephews: Shaun Jackson, Khaman Thomas, and Rakeem Strickland; one niece: Rianda Jackson; two great nieces and two great nephews; and a host of Cherished cousins and close friends.

Richie, you will be forever missed and we love you beyond this life… “To the moon and back!”

Public visitation will be Thursday, September 12, 2019, from 4 pm to 7 pm at C&H Community Home for Funerals, Lucille’s Memorial Chapel, 411 S. Adams St., Ypsilanti.  The funeral service will be held Friday, September 13, 2019, with the family hour at 10 am followed by the service at 11 am at Bethel AME Church, 900 John A. Woods Drive, Ann Arbor, Michigan.  Cremation to take place.  Please sign the guestbook below.

There truly aren't enough words to adequately express how much I'll miss Richie. He was kind, encouraging, and could always make me laugh. I'm going to miss him tremendously, but will forever remain thankful to God for blessing me with the opportunity to share this journey called life with him. May God continue to give comfort to his wonderful family.

I knew Richie from growing up together in the neighborhood. I remember how he could make us all really laugh! I don’t think I have seen him since high school when my mom would drive him, Shereen and I to Pioneer in the morning. He was always polite to my mom and thanked her and was a bright personable happy guy. My condolences to Shereen and the rest of the family on your loss. I have fond memories of him.
