    Age 59, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019, at Heartland Health Care Center.  He was born October 18, 1959, in Milan, TN, the son of James Author and Vertie Mae (Britt) Kelley.

    Desi was a 1977 graduate of Pioneer High School.  For many years, he worked road construction in Michigan.  Desi loved to cook and was last employed at Red Robin in Ann Arbor.  His hobbies were fishing, hunting, and camping.  He was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout. He was raised in the Greater Fountain Church of God in Christ and later joined Burning Bush Church. 

    Survivors include: his partner of 30 years Darlene Isom; two sons, Desi Kelly Jr. of Ann Arbor and James Leo Kelly Sr. of Israel; three grandchildren, Dezmond, Brooklyn, and James; three sisters, Deborah Greer, Gail Kelley, and Casandra Kelley; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Villia Kelley-Smith.

    The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019, from 12 – 4 pm at C&H Community Home for Funerals, Lucille’s Memorial Chapel, 411 S. Adams Street, Ypsilanti.  Cremation will follow and the burial of his ashes will take place in United Memorial Gardens.  Please sign the guestbook below.
